Our mission is to improve the quality of life for seniors, people who have physical disability and/or people who have mental illness, who require support services within their homes and communities. Supports focus on allowing the individual to continue to live in their own homes as opposed to more restrictive situations. Regularly scheduled services may be provided once or twice weekly, or up to multiple times per day. Community Living Services staff provide supports that focus on respect for the individual and their unique needs.
Transportation and Mobility Assistance
Community Living Services staff assist with transportation to access essential community services such as grocery shopping, pharmacy, banking, laundry care, etc. Services may consist of staff purchasing groceries or supplies on behalf of an individual who is homebound, escorting the individual on public transportation, or assisting the person using staff’s vehicle to get to where they need to go.
CLS staff assist with completing household tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, dusting, floor care, and general household cleaning tasks that may be too physically demanding for seniors and people with disabilities to do alone. Direct Support Professionals assist in a variety of settings to ensure that the person supported is able to continue living in a comfortable and healthy environment.
Services include meal planning, meal preparation, and clean up. Meals may be prepared in larger batches and portioned out for the rest of the week or assistance with cooking may be provided up to several times daily, depending on the needs of the individual. Community Living Services staff assist with preparing nutritious meals with an awareness of dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
Grooming and Personal Hygiene
Staff provide assistance in areas of bathing, dressing/undressing, toileting, incontinence care, nail care, basic skin care, and assisting with oral hygiene. Community Living Services’ goal is to compassionately assist people supported with their personal care routines so they can look and feel their best.
Communication and Money Management
Services include assisting the individual with the telephone, reading and sending mail related to obtaining and managing essential services. Community Living Services staff may also assist with monthly budgeting and bill paying.
For individuals with more intensive care needs, Community Living Services staff are trained to assist in a variety of cares including positioning, transferring, maintenance exercises, medication reminders and observation, catheter cares, ostomy cares, compression stockings, orthotics and adaptive devices, including the use of hoyer lifts. Supports are given by qualified staff under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse.
Temporary relief to the individuals’ spouse, family or primary caregiver to allow time away from the demands associated with continuous daily care.
